Chicken cutlet

Chicken cutlet is one of the delicious snacks cooked by my mother. I remember those good old days when the cutlets used to be on the dining table ready to eat when I reach home in the evening from school / collage.

Chicken cutlet was one of my favorites and so I learned the preparation during my teens itself. Finally it became a duty for me to make the cutlets for any homely gatherings!!!

Instead of chicken we can use beef also which tastes awesome.


Ingredients to cook the chicken
Boneless Chicken – 1/2 kg (If chicken is with bones, after cooking the chicken remove the bones)
Ginger Paste – 2 tbsp
Garlic Paste – 2 tbsp
Red Chilli Powder – 1 tbsp
Pepper Powder – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tbsp
Coriander Powder – 2 tbsp
Curry Leaves – 10 leaves
Water – 1/4 cup
Salt – to taste
Ingredients to make potato mix
Boiled Potato – 1 kg
Onion – 3 big
Green Chilli – 4 nos
Coconut Oil – 2 tbspn
Salt – to taste
For frying the Cutlets
Eggs – 2 nos
Bread Crumbs – 300 gms
Any Vegetable Oil – 1 cup

Step 1

Cook the chicken in a pressure cooker with 1/4 cup of water adding ginger paste, garlic paste, red chilli powder, pepper power, turmeric powder, coriander powder, curry leaves and salt to taste.

Step 2

After 2 whistle of presure cooker, swithch of the flame and keep the cooker closed for 15 mnts. By the time you can prepare the potato mix.

Step 3

Saute finely chopped onion in coconut oil and add green chilli. To this add boiled potatoes, salt to taste and smash the mixture well and allow to cool

Step 4

Open the pressure cooker and check if there is excess water in the chicken gravy. If yes, boil and dry the water and allow the chicken to cool.

Step 5

Mix the chicken and potato mix very well with you hands. Then make the cutlets in whatever shapes you want.

Step 6

First dip the cutlets in well beaten eggs and then roll them in bread crumbs.

Step 7

Heat oil in a frying pan. When the oil is very hot (tip: if oil is very hot the cutlets will not break) place the cutlets into the hot oil and fry till both sides turn golden brown.

Step 8

Serve hot with tomato sauce and green salads.
